Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing has expanded its 70% ebook royalty rate tier, allowing authors to earn 70% royalties on ebooks priced between $2.99 and $12.99.The previous 70% rate only applied to books priced at $9.99 ore more.
This change is now available on the Kindle Direct Publishing site. The updated text says “Effective July 7, 2026, the 70% royalty option price band is $2.99-$12.99 on Amazon.com, expanding from the previous range of $2.99-$9.99, with equivalent changes in other KDP marketplaces. Many authors are already changing the prices of their e-books to take advantage of the new price points to earn higher commissions. Boxed sets for e-books and books are already being changed. Consumers will notice some prices increasing, while others will be decreased.
