Fast Technology reported on September 28 that Honor launched a pocket e-ink e-reader, the S3, priced at 399 yuan. Its compact body can be magnetically attached directly to the back of a phone, making it very convenient to carry when going out.
This device is positioned as a mini book that fits in a pocket. The whole unit weighs only 61g with a thickness of 5.6mm, lighter than many Bluetooth earphones.
You can hold it in one hand and read for a long time without your hand feeling tired. Just stuff it into a pants pocket or a small bag, and take it out anytime to read while commuting on the subway or resting at a cafe.
The display is a 3.68-inch soft-light eye-protection e-ink screen with 259PPI, paired with a high-transparency frosted glass panel that feels like paper. The light is gentle, so your eyes won't easily get tired after long reading sessions.
It uses a full-screen single-point touch design with no physical buttons. A light tap on the display turns the page, making operation smooth and simple.
Its most interesting feature is the magnetic attachment design. Thanks to the innovative magnetic structure, it snaps firmly onto the back of a phone with a click, as thin as a card and almost unnoticeable. When you go out, you don't need to carry a separate device; it stays with your phone and is not easy to lose.
The battery provides up to 30 hours of reading time. A single full charge can last a whole week of daily reading, so you won't need to frequently hunt for a charger.
The platform is integrated with JD Read First Edition, with a built-in library of 700,000 genuine books. Log in to your account and start reading right after powering on. Reading records can sync across devices, so your progress won't be interrupted when switching devices.
It is also compatible with the Honor Smart Space app for wireless book transfer, supporting mainstream e-book formats. Your own e-book files can be transferred to the device with one click.
For storage, it supports TF card expansion up to 1TB, allowing a massive collection of e-books to be stored inside, equivalent to putting an entire small study into your pocket. It can also work with Honor Smart Space for wireless image and book transfer, putting inspired content on screen with one click.
For people who like to read during fragmented time, this small e-reader is very suitable. If you don't want to hold a heavy large-screen e-reader, and don't want to stare at a phone display for long periods and strain your eyes, this 3.68-inch mini e-ink screen just fits the need.
