Microsoft today officially launched the new Xbox Mythic Achievements, and they are already available to Xbox Insider testers. The way it works is very similar to Sony PlayStation's Platinum Trophies: once you earn all of a game's original achievements, you unlock the Mythic Achievement.
The Xbox team said: "Mythic Achievements have already been retroactively added to eligible games you completed in the past, including Xbox 360 titles. The next time you visit your profile, you may find that some of your favorite games have already reached Mythic status."
Xbox profiles will soon also add a gaming tab to track Gamerscore milestones and Mythic Achievements; the main achievements list will be updated as well—a new progress bar will appear at the top of each game's achievements list, showing how close it is to Mythic status and offering a filter for "only show original achievements not yet earned."
Last week, Mythic Achievements accidentally leaked in the Xbox PC app, complete with a unique unlock sound effect. Just a few weeks ago, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma had confirmed that Xbox would introduce a counterpart to Platinum Trophies later this year, and the test version has now already arrived.
