IT Home News on September 30: Tom's Hardware has discovered that Intel's next-generation Nova Lake platform has passed compliance testing by USB and PCIe standards organizations.

USB-IF has added some Core Ultra 4000 series Nova Lake platforms to its integrator list, and the PCI-SIG integrator list has also included the 900 series chipset for Nova Lake-S processors.

Intel Core Ultra 4000 series Nova Lake processors pass USB4 and PCIe 5.0 certification tests, expected to launch in early 2027

USB-IF confirmed that Intel's Nova Lake-H mobile processors (device IDs D331, D333) comply with the USB4 80Gbps specification. The desktop Nova Lake PCH-S chipset (device ID 6E6E) complies with the USB 3.2 Gen2 standard and supports data transfer rates up to 20Gbps.

The PCI-SIG integrator list has included the 900 series chipset for Core Ultra 4000 series Nova Lake-S processors since April. In early August, an unidentified Intel processor (device IDs D461, D465, D467 to D46A) passed PCIe 5.0 x16 testing.

IT Home note: USB-IF and PCI-SIG are industry organizations that respectively develop USB and PCIe standards and conduct compliance certification. Models that pass testing can use the corresponding logos on their packaging.

USB-IF has a "similarity certification" program: for sufficiently similar models, testing one model allows related models to be added to the integrator list. Since different Nova Lake models have similar USB4 and USB 3.2 circuits, Intel can first submit some CPUs and chipsets for testing, then follow up using this program.

However, USB-IF certification is formally tied to specific model names, model numbers, and revision versions. Models with different names do not automatically receive certification just because they contain the same USB circuitry; they still need to be submitted separately, and USB-IF will determine whether the differences require additional testing.

As the release of the Core Ultra 4000 series Nova Lake processors approaches, the relevant platforms need to pass multiple compliance and interoperability tests. The latest leak points to the series launching in the first quarter of 2027, and completing certification early is a routine preparation step for Intel.
