Amazon states that the new Fire TV Stick 4K takes approximately 20% to 40% less time to go from boot-up to playing content compared to other 4K TV sticks from other brands in the same price range. According to Amazon's tests, the app startup speed has increased by more than 35%, and the content start playback speed has improved by nearly 20%.
The new Fire TV Stick 4K features a slim design, similar to the Fire TV Stick HD released earlier this year. It supports Direct Power, allowing it to be powered via a TV USB port and the included cable.
The device is equipped with a quad-core 1.7GHz processor and 8GB of storage. It supports Wi-Fi 6 networks, Bluetooth 5.3, and Low Energy Bluetooth. It runs on the Amazon Vega operating system and features built-in Alexa+ and the new Fire TV experience (Vega OS is the operating platform developed by Amazon for Fire TV devices). As previously mentioned, the new Fire TV Remote has also undergone a design overhaul, featuring an asymmetric shape with a flat top, curved bottom, and added weight. Amazon says it has more tactile controls, making it easier to grip and find buttons by touch.
The Home key features a separate metal surface, while other buttons have indentations or unique shapes to allow for identification by touch alone. Additionally, this new remote includes a customizable star button (previously limited to Amazon's higher-end remotes), which users can set to open frequently used apps or toggle features such as hidden captions and screen magnifier. The remote retains dedicated switches for TV, soundbars, and receivers, along with volume and mute buttons.
Amazon states that the new remote is compatible with all Amazon Ember TVs and Fire TV streaming hardware released since 2019.
Amazon also plans to launch the Fire TV Remote Plus in early 2027. It will feature an aluminum shell, backlit buttons, and a built-in Find My Remote function (after users say "Alexa, find my remote," the remote will emit a sound), aiming to replace the Alexa Voice Remote Pro.
Pre-orders for the new Fire TV Stick 4K will open today in the markets of the US, Canada, Japan, Mexico, the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and Australia, with expansion to more countries and regions by the end of October.
