| 封装工艺 | WMCM(晶圆级多芯片模块),内存与计算单元并排,利于散热 | 传统 PoP(Package-on-Package),内存叠在芯片上,存在散热压力挑战 |
| 平台级缓存(SLC) | 约 36–48MB(大幅提高) | 约 12~16MB(A19 为 12MB,A20 可能小幅增加) |

On October 1, IT House reported that home user @BaiFanChaoBaiMiFan shared a solder point diagram of the Apple A20 standard chip. This chip will be equipped in the iPhone 18 standard model.
IT House attaches the post content as follows:
With the solder point diagram of the Apple A20 standard chip, we can further speculate on the scale of the A20.
1. Manufacturing process: Since it is in the same generation as the A20 Pro, it uses the TSMC N2 process for fabrication.
2. Chip area: The A20 Pro has a bare die area of 98.80 mm², while the A20 is estimated to be between 70-80 mm², smaller than the A19.
3. Memory packaging: From the solder point diagram, the A20 still uses the traditional PoP packaging, not the A20 Pro's WMCM packaging. The cooling pressure still exists.
4. GPU execution units: Corresponding to the back capacitor position 1, it can barely fit 6 cores. Considering the space needed for the GPU frontend and cache, the GPU count is likely still 5 cores. Combined with historical frequency limitations on the standard version, the A20 GPU frequency is also expected to be restricted.
5. CPU execution units: Corresponding to the back capacitor positions 2 and 3, there are two large cores and four small cores. The large cores are expected to share 8 MB L2, and the small cores 4 MB L2. To meet the requirements of edge AI, the SLC might increase from the A19's 12 MB to 16 MB.
6. Neural network engine: Corresponding to the back capacitor positions 4 and 5, there is a dual-16 core neural network engine with a dedicated 4 MB cache.
7. Memory controller: Corresponding to the back capacitor positions 6 and 7. Looking at the solder point layout, the die is shifted left, leaving more space on the right, likely for routing. Position 6 corresponds to a single LPDDR controller, and position 7 to two groups (32 bits each), totaling 96 bits.
Based on these speculations, the A20 standard chip, expected to be in the iPhone 18 next year, represents a conventional upgrade. Its performance release will not be as aggressive as the A20 Pro, further widening the gap between the standard and Pro versions of the A chips.
Based on the above information, IT House presents a comparison table:
