Amazon has just unveiled two new Kindle Paperwhite e-readers. The next-generation devices are thinner and lighter, featuring a 7-inch "flush-front" display with adjustable warm light, waterproofing, and up to 12 weeks of battery life on a single charge. The Signature Edition adds an aluminum back cover, adaptive front light, 32GB storage, and ad-free reading. Both models will be available starting October 28, 2026, with pre-orders opening soon.
The new Kindle Paperwhite is lighter and thinner than its predecessor, with waterproofing and adjustable warm light for comfortable reading at any time. It offers up to 12 weeks of battery life on a single charge. The display uses an Oxide TFT backplane for high contrast, producing deep blacks and sharp text that appears to "pop" off the screen in bright or dark conditions.
The Signature Edition includes an aluminum back cover, 32GB of storage, an automatically adjusting front light, pogo pin base charging, and double-tap page turning — all while being slimmer than the previous model.
Both models boast 300 PPI resolution and support VoiceView screen reading via Bluetooth audio. They are compatible with 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz Wi-Fi using WEP, WPA, WPA2, and WPA3 encryption. Dimensions are 26.8 mm × 174.7 mm × 6.8 mm.
The 16GB base model in Graphite costs $199.99, while the 32GB Signature Edition (in Graphite or Seaglass Green) is priced at $249.99.
