An interesting tablet with an E Ink display and pen input, the Onyx Boox Note Air3, is finally available in certain countries such as Germany. The model is not only suitable for viewing e-books, but also for productivity applications.
The Onyx Boox Note Air3, a rather unusual tablet, is now becoming more internationally available and can now be purchased via third-party retailers in certain countries such as Germany, where it is available via Amazon for just under EUR 450. This circumvents potential problems with import duties, and return shipping should also be much easier. In the US, the device has been listed on Amazon for some time now.
Depending on how you view it, it is either an e-reader with Android or an Android tablet with an E Ink screen. In fact, the range of functions extends far beyond those of a classic e-reader. Thanks to the installed Android 12 operating system, thousands of apps can be easily installed, meaning the system can also be used for productivity tasks. As usual, operation is primarily via the touchscreen, although a stylus can also be used to make notes and sketches. A 10.3-inch E Ink Carta display with a resolution of 1872 x 1404 is installed, whereby the corresponding glass cover promises good protection against damage. The backlight can be adjusted not only in terms of brightness, but also color temperature.
The device is equipped with an SoC with four computing cores, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The storage can be easily expanded via a microSD memory card and the 3700 mAh battery is charged via USB- C. Data can be exchanged via WiFi and Bluetooth, and the playback of audio books is possible. Microphone and speakers are also on board. The tablet measures 226 x 193 millimeters and is 5.8 millimeters thick, weighing in at 430 grams.
